Feminist Urbanism and Intersectional Planning: Rethinking cities through care and justice
This course invites participants to explore how feminist urbanism, intersectionality, and care can transform the way we understand and shape cities. It focuses on the relationships between power, space, and social justice, offering both theoretical grounding and practical tools for more inclusive urban planning.
Participants engage with case studies, actor and power mapping, and collaborative exercises that highlight how gender, race, class, and other dimensions of inequality shape urban life. Core themes include care work as essential urban infrastructure, intersectional planning methods, and the role of local governments in creating cities that care.
Designed for planners, researchers, students, and activists with some background in gender or urban studies, the course supports the development of strategies for change grounded in critical reflection and collective action. Group work, expert input, and peer feedback help translate analysis into actionable approaches.
This course is funded by the DAAD and developed in collaboration with 2811 und Col·lectiu Punt 6.
