The government of Sao Paulo plans to implement the use concession of the natural park “PETAR” (State Park of the Alto Ribeira region), located in Vale do Ribeira – a Brazilian region with one of the greatest biodiversity in the world. However, this process has been carried out without the proper participation of the local population. In addition, the concession represents a risk to the environment.

One of our specialists, Ana Beatríz Nestlehner, together with other important actors, organized a movement to demand a participatory and transparent process that seeks to prioritize the well-being of the local population as well as the protection of biodiversity.
